EDHAA Presidents Message
for February 2010
Letter from the President
The January EDHAA meeting was an exciting one; It started at 6pm
with the Studio Tour artists proofreading their information on
the beautifully designed brochure draft. The business meeting
started at 7pm when the event center filled with members and
guests anxious to see Debbie Gualco’s portrait demonstration.
Don’s final job as 2009 EDHAA President was to oversee
the 2010 election. The new board was voted into office by the
large turn-out of members.
I’m honored to accept the job as your EDHAA President for
2010 and thrilled to have such an enthusiastic board to work with!
It promises to be a busy year with monthly artist demonstrations,
the Spring Studio Tour, the Membership Show and the scholarship
selection and award process. And I’m hoping to include some
new activities, like fieldtrips and workshops. We’ll soon
be meeting with the “old” and “new” board
members to transfer duties and to plan the 2010 calendar of activities.
Mark your calendars for the second Wednesday
in February for our a great demonstration with Randall Tillery.
He’s back by
popular demand, because he did such a wonderful job when He was
our guest demonstrator two years ago.
I’m looking forward
to a wonderful year of art with friends! See you February 10th.
Judy A.
EDHAA Guest Speaker for February
2010
Randall Tillery will demonstrate
a landscape oil painting on Wednesday, February 10, at the monthly
El Dorado Hills Arts Association meeting at Raley’s Market
in El Dorado Hills.
Notes from Randall’s website: www.artbytillery.com
I paint in what I would describe as a conservative
impressionist. I have found this style of Impressionism
to be a style that I am continually being inspired, challenged
and excited by.
I paint out of doors (Plein Air), as much
as the weather allows. Those periods where I cannot be in
nature, and instead am relegated to my studio, I like to use
some of the smaller
plein air studies, along with photos taken during my outdoors sessions
to paint larger pieces.
Living in the Placerville, California area
I am fortunate to be close to many beautiful areas to paint. Much of my time is spent painting
in the Gold Country foothills, or the Sierra Mountains.
